DSBF: Blazing Tui sets Harrington Raceway record

Blazing Tui, with Corey Callahan driving, scored a 1:57.4 victory
HARRINGTON – Don and David Wiest’s Blazing Tui ($2.10, Corey Callahan) set a track record for 2-year-old trotting geldings with a 1:57.4 triumph in his $20,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders’ Fund (DSBF) elimination Wednesday, Sept. 30 at Harrington Raceway.
The Yankee Royalty gelding improved to 3-for-3 lifetime with a front-end romp over Youcancallmeroy and Lebanon Levii. Trained by David Wiest, the win came on co-owner Don Wiest’s 96th birthday.
Meanwhile 2-year-old filly Vamoose ($3.20, Eddie Dennis) equaled her own 1:59.1 track record in the first filly division. Owned by Rodney Wyatt, E&K Racing and Kevin Peck, Vamoose, a daughter of Anders Bluestone, controlled the tempo from post seven and was a comfortable winner over Franchesca and Leap Year. Vamoose improved to 3-for-3 in her career for trainer/driver/co-owner Dennis.
In the next filly division, Burke Racing and Weaver Bruscemi’s Daringly ($2.10, Callahan) was a 1:59.4 winner over Dassie and She Is Unstoppable. The Southwind Frank filly improved to 3-for-6 in her career for trainer Ron Burke.
In the second male division, Michial and Linda English’s Mike Franks ($3, Ross Wolfenden) was a 2:00.3 winner over Amish Outlaw and Italian Royalty. Trained by John Wilkerson, the Southwind Frank gelding earned the second win of his career. The final male division went to Sonja Booth’s Platinum Ice ($3.40, Troy Beyer) in 2:01 over Cirocco and Frosty Frank. The EL Platinum gelding earned his first lifetime win for trainer Besin Odza.
The top eight point earners from two rounds of eliminations return for $110,000 final events on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
Round two of DSBF stakes action for 2-year-old horses will headline the Monday, Oct. 5 through Wednesday, Oct. 7 racing programs with the male pacers on Oct. 5, female pacers on Oct. 6 and trotters on Oct. 7 to round out the week.
